I love the translucency of Jadite. This bowl came from Tim's family - an aunt, I believe. The whisk was my mom's - she used it all her married life. I like the colors of the red and the green together, and painting the eggs was fun, too. Lots of colors in those whites! This is painted on cradled wood, which I LOVE painting on. This painting is for a submission next month, and won't be available till after May 30th.
great painting. Translucency and the whisk!..both trick things to paint...you did a great job!
This is fantastic! I love the way the light glows through the jadeite.ReplyDelete
Wow! This is wonderful, Kelley!ReplyDelete
I know you're enjoying the sunshine..
You nailed it! You caught that jadite perfectly, with the soft glow. Kelley, you are the bomb!ReplyDelete
You just described everything I love about this painting...awesome translucency!ReplyDelete
Great painting Kelley...reds and greens are always nice.ReplyDelete
Hey Kelley! Nice job on this one! You are really nailing the shiney stuff. Love the wooden handled whisk.ReplyDelete

"you totally nailed Jadite, Kelley! and the volume of the bowl and the eggs and the whisk---great job!!"ReplyDelete
Kelley Great painting - the composition is great and I love the translucency of the jadite!ReplyDelete
Thanks everyone! This was a painting that really didn't come together till the very last minute! And I'm STILL not 'sure' about the background. But I live by the rule "Do one thing every day that terrifies you!". Jadite. There you go.ReplyDelete
Awsome Kelley, the colors are so wonderful and the whisk!!ReplyDelete
Nothing else to say. Everyone else has expressed it all! I totally agree - just a wonderful painting!!ReplyDelete
Kelley, Wonderful job! Beautiful painting! I love how you painted the whisk! That looks very challeging!ReplyDelete
A BEAUTY. Composition and all. I love jadeite and you nailed the glow!ReplyDelete
This IS beautiful!ReplyDelete
Love this painting...really lovelyReplyDelete
I suddenly DO remember those jadite milky glass bowls. The way you painted it made about 50-60 years just wash away, Kelley! Super painting!ReplyDelete
Love the painting. the colors are perfect together. My aunt collects Jadite.... the green is fantastic.ReplyDelete
Ok, I had to go look again to make sure I said my peace here: It's WONDERFUL!! The jadite glows against the whisk and the composition is clever and holds ones attention. Normally a dark top/backdrop might feel heavy??--but it looks awesome. Really, really nice Kelley. You keep getting better and better.ReplyDelete
Yep - I have to chime in too! Kelley - you captured that milky old-fashioned green so well. And the red-handled whisk is the perfect compliment. My Grandma had a lot of that stuff. It brings back memories...ReplyDelete
I'm still drooling. Those two colors together...the translucent green and red and magical. You did such an unbelievable job on that bowl! Great painting!ReplyDelete
Beautiful job, Kelley. You really nailed the translucent quality of the bowl.ReplyDelete
This is so wonderful for many reasons.
The white on white with the eggs on the table. The jadite looks super cool and translucent (it must look amazing in person, huh?). And the red handle of the whisk does indeed go great with the green of the bowl.
Love this one!
