Coastal Roasters, Acrylic, 11x14

SOLD
Gorgeous day yesterday, so I decided to try out my 'Holland' painting gear. There was supposed to be no wind, and the sky was almost purple it was so blue, so I headed across the street to the coffeeshop. After I was working for about an hour the wind kicked up, I mean really kicked up, and I was clinging to my brushes, palette, paper towel, as they were being tugged out of my hands. So I packed up and came home - and the wind died right down! This is not really a 'Daily Painting', but a plein air painting. Probably should have posted it in my Studio blog, but here goes.. I'm trying to be a little freer, not so tight or literal.

Flowerbomb II, Acrylic, 5x7

I tried to post this within the 'Flowerbomb' that 'bombed' post two posts below this. Blogster is being difficult, and the editing option is missing this afternoon. I think the composition is better in this one, and the highlights are a little better, now I'm going to let it GO, and move on. (Where's Channel #5 when you need a nice, square, yellow perfume bottle?)
Yesterday I tried to do more candy... chocolate covered cherries, to be precise, and I decided to make it more 'interesting' by cracking one open so the goo could flow out. Dis-ASTER! That's another painting that will never see the light of day. I'm extremely distracted these days trying to get ready for my trip to Holland, one week from today. I'll be blogging from there on my Holland Blog, the link to which can be found on the upper right hand corner of this page. Hope you can visit. :)

Starlight Mint, 4x4, Acrylic

One of those little mints that you grab on the way out of the restaurant. Playing, once again, with the clear wrapper and the light dancing on it, and through it. :)

FlowerBomb, 5x7 Acrylic

What would you do if you got new cologne - me, too - PAINT IT! This is 'FlowerBomb' by Victor & Rolf (whoever THEY are) that I got talked into at Nordstrom's on Saturday night. Tim likes it and it's a pretty bottle. It's growing on me, but not my usual stuff. My 'scent expert' is my friend Joan, who will give me the 'yay' or 'nay' when she sees me.

I keep stuggling with glass and reflective surfaces. Some more successful than others. I wonder how much of the less successful stuff I should put out on the blog. But it's a blog, and not a 'website' for strict sales purposes. If I can have fun and share what I'm working on, I'm happy! If other people like it and let me know, so much the better! Thanks to everyone who submits a comment. Each one is appreciated!

It's About Time, Oil, 6x8

This is a clock I love, and I was looking for a nice reflective surface to paint, so why not shiny silver and glass? Once again, I thought I'd never actually do this, then agonized when I realized I'd set myself up to paint Roman Numerals... but in the end, it all worked out. The trick is to not see the glass, the metal, but just paint the shapes and the light. The Roman Numerals were not nearly as hard as I anticipated, either.

HARRY! (would have been Shrimp, acrylic, 6x6)

The bottom photo is the painting right after I finished it, spent a good couple of hours on it, finally happy with it. I walked over to the computer and heard this horrendous crash, looking up in time to see Harry (my 10 month old ginger kitten) leaping out of the debris of my easel/taboret. The wet painting was underneath the big piece of furniture, with the water from my pail gushing all over the floor around it. Soooo... I guess he thought it was too 'tight', because now it looks like the top photo! Just wanted to show that I wasn't slacking off today, but there isn't exactly a finished painting to show for it. Anyway, what happend was that Harry leapt onto the palette which is on an open drawer, and his weight (10 pounds, maybe) jumping on to it tipped the whole show over. He has a few new nicknames after today. No, I don't t think I'll share them!

Carrot Babies, Oil, 6x8

Found this group bound and gagged at the Fruit Center. Hoping they'll get ransomed, so I don't have to eat them!

You Want A Piece Of Me? Acrylic 6x12

This painting came as a result of a friend requesting a 'crab' painting. I know, I know, but I'm not familiar with crabs - yet! He/she looks angry, but that's probably because he's been boiled! There's a blue lobster (mascot) where I get my groceries... maybe I'll paint that one, too.

It Was A Very Good Night, Acrylic 6x12

In the same vein as 'Party Shoes', I'm thinking of the end of a magical evening out... maybe some dancing, romantic skies, heavenly dinner, fun people to laugh with.
