This Bud's For You, Oil, 6x6

OK, I'm going to offer all the latest 'drink' paintings for sale, all proceeds to go to Molly's fundraising effort to run in the Boston Marathon this April.  Time is getting short, and she doesn't really have a vehicle for selling them.  They are, as usual, $100 each and I will offer free shipping and handling.  There's a story behind this beer (which, if you're ever trying to make yourself crazy, paint beer.  Really, the bubbles, the reflections, the deep brown bottle, the disappearing foam, the glass mug - did I mention the foam?) :)  And I called Molly for a brand to paint - she emailed her boyfriend and he first said 'Bud', then offered a beer with a really cool bottle.  OK, the little package store ('packie' in this area) only had the regular beers.  I'm open to suggestions if anyone has favorites, too.

  1. Great job on the glass and the foamy beer!

I like Longboard myself. They always have a Hawaiian word vocabulary lesson inside the cap.

  7. The first thing I thought when I saw the painting was Wow! I love how she handled the beer. Then I read your notes on the difficulty. You made it look easy. My favorite beer is Yuengling; America's oldest brewery.

  8. It came out great! The beer stein which is a difficult shape, is right on and the subtleties in the beer make it look just like beer!
My family drinks beer and I've saved a bunch of the more 'exotic' bottles for props. St Pauli Girl, Harpoon, Sam Adams, Yuenling (Chinese} and my favorite bottle is Grolsch.

  9. Fantastic job on the bubbles! now I want a beer and it's only 10:30. Nice to see you always challenge yourself! I just picked up a few sam adams beers for my "All things Boston series" which is in progress. I will take your comments as a warning...though I'm just doing the bottles and not beer in a glass.

  15. You really aced the color and clarity in this. I don't even like beer and it makes me thirsty for one.

  16. Kelley!

I'm not a beer drinker AT ALL.

But you did a great job capturing the luminous quality of the beer itself.

The yellows have a wonderful glow to them!
