Flowerbomb II, Acrylic, 5x7

I tried to post this within the 'Flowerbomb' that 'bombed' post two posts below this. Blogster is being difficult, and the editing option is missing this afternoon. I think the composition is better in this one, and the highlights are a little better, now I'm going to let it GO, and move on. (Where's Channel #5 when you need a nice, square, yellow perfume bottle?)
Yesterday I tried to do more candy... chocolate covered cherries, to be precise, and I decided to make it more 'interesting' by cracking one open so the goo could flow out. Dis-ASTER! That's another painting that will never see the light of day. I'm extremely distracted these days trying to get ready for my trip to Holland, one week from today. I'll be blogging from there on my Holland Blog, the link to which can be found on the upper right hand corner of this page. Hope you can visit. :)

  1. Brava, Kelley! This is one of those rare instances when the sequel far outshines the first release. The subject placement is much better I think (and more true to your style!) and I love the juxtaposition of the soft reds of the bottle against the soft greens of the background - very nice color choice!

I'm kind of disappointed that we won't be seeing a Flowerbomb Part Trois. Hey, maybe you should do a whole series of Flowerbombs, like Monet's haystacks! Kidding ... I'm kidding!

I don't blame you for being distracted about your trip – how exciting! I can't wait to see your Holland paintings ... I've already bookmarked that blog so I can keep checking in.

  2. Karen, your comments (as well as your blog) are a pleasure to read! I'm not counting out a third (and better) Flowerbomb! Back to my endless lists and piles of rejected clothing for the trip!

  3. Wow! Holland. Now that's exciting.

This bottle's color almost looks like a gem stone!

  4. Yes, Holland will be great and I'm attaching a blog for it to this blog (upper right hand corner). I'm going with a wild and crazy senior artist, who hopefully will inspire me, too!
I think that's the point of that bottle, Leslie, to look gem-like!

  5. I just got it that the bottle is a hand grenade! Duh, flower bomb?
    I am slow sometimes.
Karen's comment about the haystacks cracks me up. Flower Bomb, the sequel!
It's 6:23, Wed, April 25. I am thinking of you at the airport ready to embark for HOLLAND. I am so waiting for that blog :D
