First Tulips, 2014, 8x8 inch Acrylic Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Last week was my birthday, and one of my children gave me these beautiful purple tulips.  I've spent a lot of days recently trying to catch up on commissions, and putting bids out there for work.  But I just had to paint these heralds of Spring!  I wanted to keep it fresh and uncomplicated.  I love the dance that tulips do!
I'm working on some larger pieces, and maybe I'll give you a peek, although right now it's a struggle!  Be well!  Enjoy the warmer days!

  1. What a beautiful splash of color on brown and icky days. Happy belated birthday, Kelley.

  2. Love them Kelley. Tulips are one of my faves. Our garden here in Maine is still under about 3 feet of snow and it's not melting any time soon. I guess I won't see my tulips until June at this rate. Glad I got to see your wonderful painting. Enjoy your day!

  3. Wow, Kelley, these are wonderfully painted tulips and even more special since they were a gift from your progeny. Happy Birthday belatedly, hope you had fun.
I love the way the texture of the linen shows through, don't you?
Can't wait to see what else you've been working on!
