I'm taking a class with Shawn Kenney at the Providence Art Club and we are doing plein air urban skyscapes.  These paintings are from last week - when the evening started out grayish, but suddenly the sun came out when the sun was setting.  We paint on the rooftop terrace - it is absolute heaven. The point is to paint a lot of 'starts', no real finished paintings - and it really lets you loosen up.

These paintings were done from one spot - I never moved my easel.

  1. Gorgeous and don't look like starts to me! These are wonderful composition wise and I love the colors! Great class and you got a wonderful spot to catch all those views without having to move-Plein Air Perfect:)

  3. These are fantastic! I really like the idea of doing these as 'starts'. I think that sounds like a lot of fun, and probably less stress too.

Beautifully done Kelly and that top pink one is calling my name!

  4. Starts? Hard to believe but they are all lovely... may you never run out of that divine pink in the first scene!

So glad that it was a perfect time en plein air... a rooftop terrace

  5. Sounds like so much fun! These are so interesting, nice and loose. Each composition is complete in itself. It's hard to believe each was painted from the same spot. Very nice!
