Cupcake III, 6x6 Original Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

SOLD
Here's the final of the cupcake trio.  I guess I've been really intent on the cupcake scene - because today was my husband's birthday, and what did I do?  Bake cupcakes!
Mine were white cake with light chocolate buttercream frosting.  We took them to brunch in Boston and shared with our grown children after a nice brunch.
Susan Roden is preparing a retaliation I think... so we'd better duck!  I've got frosting all over the walls here......  I think tomorrow it will be non-food items - I need a long walk!

Cupcake II, Original Oil Painting by Kelley Carey MacDonald

SOLD
6x6 inches
This Dunkin Donuts cupcake is possibly going to live with the first one I did.  I've done a couple for the collector, and she gets to choose today's or tomorrow's cupcake.  The other one will be for sale after she decides. I used to dread painting the frosting, but now I luuuurve it!  And the paper cupcake cup... I love making the edges, the folds and the glow.  I guess what doesn't kill us makes us stronger!
Hey... Susan Roden!  Lookie here - flinging the frosting at you in California!
I'm hoping you all had a warm and happy Thanksgiving.  We sure did here, and are pretty much all healthy again, which, .... hey, we were thankful for that, too!
Here's something I'm grateful for that I never, ever thought I would be.  I went out and bought a new recliner today - something else I never thought I'd do.  But lately my 4 o'clock 'power nap' has turned into a circus, with either or both of the cats, plus Paco and me on my Dad's old recliner (think Frasier's Dad's..).  The spring on one side was shot, so you leaned waaaay to the left, and you had to kick wildly to get the foot rest down.  We won't mention the cat 'decorations' in the beige (lovely color) upholstery.  Anyway, you know what I realized?  I bought the same... the SAME recliner, only about 20 years newer.  Same color.  Size.  Feel.  Me and my Dad are connecting, I guess.
And I'm thankful for that, too.

Distraction.... Original Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

SOLD
6x6 inches
Today I went into Dunkin Donuts to buy some jellies for a couple of commissions and well, they didn't look that great. Kind of flat - sweaty, too, if you know what I mean. So, OK, I thought I'll get an nice Iced Coffee and some munchkins for Paco, who was waiting patiently in the car - on this wonderfully cool, crisp day. Only... instead of the bin of plain munchkins there was a tray of Lemon Squares. Yeah, ... what the what??? Next to that was some raspberry creamy kind of squares...???? And then... 2 trays of cupcakes with sprinkles - wait - WHERE AM I? So I bought a chocolate with vanilla frosting, and ended up with this.

I am finally enjoying the September weather... I hope you are, too!

YUM! 6x6, Oil

YUM!, 6x6
$100 + $10 S&H via Paypal

This is the last of the goodies from Allie's donuts! And I don't even know if it was TASTY, because it 'waited' it's turn at the studio.... so it was a few days old when I attempted it. Although I have to tell you, a little while under that light, and the studio smelled like someone was baking a cake! horrors! Sorry for the glare. And yesterday morning I woke up to the most beautiful morning.... view from my bed below! Now, just disregard those electrical wires, will you? It was such a soft blue with pinky light at the horizon. OK. I'm taking a couple of days 'off' at the end of this week to re-structure my email subscriber group. I'll try, but man, at this time of the year it's 'get-together' time!

Cumpcake, 6x6 Oil

SOLD

Well, it looked a bit better BEFORE I dropped it and smashed it against the easel and had to repair it! When I was a little girl my best friend was this adorable little girl whose first language was Portuguese. She only spoke English at school, and for some reason she stuck 'm's in a lot of words, one I remember is 'cupcake'. She called them 'cumpcakes'. ;) Hey, she was little!

Anyway today was my first 'real' full day at the studio with Paco. All I can say is I STARTED putting paint on the panel at 4 p.m. There is a video and short take on Paco's Blog.
