It is my humble opinion that male orange cats are the MOST handsome!  This is a painting of my orange boy, but I have two friends (who don't know each other) who each managed in the past few months to add a beautiful orange male kitty to their families!  I hadn't painted one of my cats in a while, and they are a big part of my life.  (Don't tell Paco)  I felt very free and loose painting this. Just what I needed to get this New Year off to a good start!

This guy is a model for my Girls Just Wanna Paint Group.  He's so adorable.  But I do love the close up!  One thing - kitty paws are really awesome to paint - I think I'm going to do one more - of him on his back - he is a HAM!

With Paco at my daughter's this weekend, I had a chance to re-connect with Isabelle, our first cat in this series of pets.  She's very sweet in real life, although I painted her with a grouchy look on her face.  This is how she looks when Paco's around because he never gives her a moment's peace - he will harass her in her littlerbox, eat her food, jump on top of her if she tries to walk across the room.  We've almost had him a year, and she remembers how it was BP (before Paco).  She's a sweetie, and I love her 'highlights' - when we got her as a kitten she was pure black with a pumpkin colored triangle on her face.  As she grew - more 'sparkles' appeared in her hind area - her front legs are still all black.  She's a  doll!

Happy Halloween, Harry!

Harry, the teenage cat in our house, is a gorgeous mix of pumpkin and buff colors. He loves to be anywhere we are, doing anything we do, but he especially loves it when Tim takes out the toolbox. He's all over that. Anyway, with no kids left at home and no children in the neighborhood (no, really, NO kids!) Halloween isn't much fun. But we had many years of pirates and princessess, werewolfs and ghouls, and lots and lots of fun!

This 12x12 painting is not a daily painting, but it got into the Duxbury Art Association's Winter Juried show, which runs through the month of Febrary. I tried for about 7 years to get in this show and finally got in with this painting. My two daily paintings done this weekend we do-overs, lipstick and makeup themed - maybe I should just stick to food!
