Autumn Treasure, 5x7 Inches Oil

When my children were small we spent many afternoons gathering "The Most" beautiful leaves, then pressing them in wax paper to mount on our fridge.  Along with a rock collection along every windowsill, I truly treasured these gems that we would find.  My favorites were the Maples.  Living in New Hampshire was the best for this.  Talk about  treasure trove of Maples!

Anyway now it's Paco and I that wander the leaf lined streets.  S'Ok.  He's a great pal, and loves these walks.  He gets a little confused and likes to dive into the piles of leaves, thinking this is the 'game'.  I have to rescue the pretty, whole ones before he tears them up!

Well, this is one leaf that won't dry up or lose it's color!

Conor's (my son) beautifully glazed bowl, a leaf found while walking Paco, and an apple - all remind me of this season. I love this support - it's Gessoboard, as opposed to yesterday's 'Martooni', which is on a canvas panel. For some reason I just love the paint sliding around on this smooth surface. How about you? What supports are your favorite?

Just Kale, Oil, 6x6

I can't let go of Summer, but I do love it when the kale and mums have their time. I am fascinated by all the varieties of kale, and how long they last into the cold months. The colder it gets, the more vivid the colors of purple, pink, olive and sage seem to get. Here I was having a little fun with the rufflinng leaves, doing some calligraphy on top. The actual painting has more contrast, but I have not successfully learned how to Photoshop that. Now I'm off to the beach for a little sun on the dunes. I have the whole day to myself, and I'm going to try for 3 painting sessions:)
