Yellow Fleurs, 5x7 inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

*Daily Paintworks Facebook Pick of the Day*
Well, this is the last day of 2014, and the last day for my Pop Up Holiday sale.  This painting is included, and you can see the rest HERE.   Just email me at kcareymac@hotmail.com, and let me know which one(s) you want.

I can't say that I'm sad to see 2014 go, but I know for sure that I learned a lot, stretched my heart and my soul, and saw the world through different eyes.  I hope each of you had a growth year, and will enjoy 2015, with health, bounty and joy.

I'll be posting some new classes and workshops this first week, and I quite possibly will be participating in the now-famous January painting Challenge.
Until the new year, then.... be well!

Enchantment, 10x8 inch painting by Kelley MacDonald

At a certain time of day when the sun is sliding down, the light catches on the water and sparkles in every color.  Just for a few moments, but there it is.  I think, for me, it's the reason to live near the water... a magic moment.  I like to walk along the sea wall and look past Gould Island and see Aquidneck Island at this very moment.

This painting has been added, along with a few more, to my Pop Up Sale, which you can view HERE.  I'm scheduled to make a Delivery Run, for FREE delivery on December 24.  So... great deals on presents, and free delivery... not bad?  Just email me at kcareymac@hotmail.com and we'll put some enchantment into your week.

Tower Of Jellies, 12x6 Inch Acrylic Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Part of my little "Holiday Pop Up Sale" Click here to see the rest.  New ones added daily.

Now... I know some of these paintings would be great gifts.  And gifts are so much a part of this time of year.  But still... the best gift you can give, really, is to really be there for someone.  A friend, a relative, a neighbor, a co-worker.  Think of the people who have made such a difference in your own life... right?

I try just to enjoy the magic this time of year brings.  The lights.  The music.  The anticipation.  I try to concentrate on what I DO have, not what I don't have, what I want.  Right now I'm full of gratitude.  Even in surprising places.  Like where you would think there would be fear, or disappointment, there is still a light there shining on someone I love.
Enjoy.

The God Squad, 6x4 Inches, Oil by Kelley MacDonald

SOLD

Times are trying now... for a lot of people.  Here's a conference of sweet angels ready to jump in to help.  Do you know someone who is in need of a fleet of angels?  This tiny painting will sit nicely on a nightstand and is only a whisper away.  I love layering the diaphinous robes and wings, the cute but powerful wings.  Angelic assistance is on the way....

Magical Moonlight

The first of the month always brings my painting for my Challenge group, Girls Just Wanna Paint.

This month our theme was "Magical"... and to me, moonlight on snow is just about as magical as you can get.  It's a tiny, tuckable painting, and I also like that.  I have lots of these, done by myself, or my Daily Painting friends, tucked in corners all over the house.  I love coming upon them, they comfort or inspire me, remind me of places or fun times, or just beauty.

I know a lot of us had to wrestle joy into the Thanksgiving feast this year, but I hope you all did.  Aside from personal challenges of our own or our loved ones, the media has been doing it's level best to divide us and make us angry.  Please lock the door of your heart on them.  Let in only the joy from the smiles of your favorite family and friends, and the let in only the love from their hearts to yours.

And if we have to buy presents at the holidays, try to do so from small businesspeople.  We won't make a hill of beans of difference in buying something from China.  But our local shops, and craftspeople are our neighbors and need our support.  Of course shopping this way won't get you your Lexus in the driveway on Christmas morning... but trust me, it will be as nice a surprise a few days after Christmas when the dealers are trying to get their numbers in before the 1st!!! Ha!

We're All Connected, 6x6 inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Oh, I just love this little painting.  The thought was about 'negative space' which is the space that resides between things.  It defines the shape of things by relying on the outline of what IS and what is NEXT to it.  So this was a tough subject in class, but I loved the neutral colors of the whole painting except the berries.  And I got lost in the many colors and values in each little berry.  The highlight.  The stem end. (and you can see where my camera made a shadow on the lower right quadrant  - and it doesn't really matter.
All these berries are singular, unique, actually.  Like us.  But before I took the clippers to the bush, they were all on one big branch.  They had so much more in common than they had differences.  So do we.  And I'd like to wish you all a safe, healthy and happy Thanksgiving.  Take a break from the craziness that we get hit with every day online, on TV and on the radio.  Look around the table and be thankful that THOSE are the crazy, lovely, wonderful people you have in your life.
Blessings on you all.
(This painting is not 'officially' for sale, but if it speaks to you just email me at kcareymac@hotmail.com)

Long Time Gone... and Big Bite, 6x6" oil painting by Kelley MacDonald

Ohhhh, it's been a long time since I broke down and ate, I mean PAINTED, a jelly donut.  I have been busy as a bee, and struggling with a twisted up knee, and Dunkin Donuts called to see what I've been up to.  Kidding.
I liked doing the zoomed in piece here, and it's a struggle to get the right values (dark vs. light) of the shaded part of both the jelly and the 'belly' of the donut.  But I was really happy with how this came out.  The hubby says he likes donuts without the bite out of them better.  More for me, I say. :D
My Open House was a great success, and my friend Susan Medyn and I had LOTS of fun with our teeni tiny martini's!  White Cosmos, friends and finishing the day with piping hot chili - what a great day!
I have had to fill in some pieces at the Providence Art Club because some donuts found new homes from that show - but do not worry, because I keep them stocked with 6 paintings till the show closes just before Christmas!

White Cosmo, 6x6 Inch Free Painting by Kelley MacDonald

A White Cosmo is a Cosmo with white cranberry juice instead of the usual red.  I will be serving them at my Open Studio with Susan Medyn on Saturday at my place. (see details in previous post).  This painting will be part of a free raffle for those who stop by, and Susan will be offering one as well.  Oh, that's crushed candy canes on the rim....  kind of festive, you know?

I just love painting the reflected light on the glass.  For this painting I put a pink cloth under the martini glass, and the light bounced up form it into the 'bowl' of the glass.  The cocktail itself is frosty white.  Let's get this party STARTED!

Cocktail Time! 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Oh BOY what a busy time of year!!  This was a demo for my class at the Providence Art Club.  We were working on interesting compositions, and did 3 little studies, being as brave as we could, then chose the one that we felt worked best!  (Yes, we had a 'cocktail party')
This will be at my own Open House this Saturday, from 1-5 p.m.  We will be serving a signature cocktail, a White Cosmo, and giving a way a painting of it as well as a painting from my co-host Susan Medyn, in the form of one of her wonderful, whimsical watercolors! Gifts, cards, calendars will be available as well as new work, but mostly well wishes for a beautiful, healthy, happy Holiday Season.  You are invited, 1888 Main Road, Tiverton, RI:

ALSO
Saturday and Sunday, in Marshfield, MA the North River Arts Society will have 21 of my paintings in their Holiday Art Sale!  It's free to get in unless you want to be an Early Bird!  On Saturday, you CAN get in, for $10, at 9 a.m. (regularly starts at 10) and get 'dibs' on everything, PLUS 10% off any of the amazing bigger paintings on the stage.  Sat. 1-4 - and Sun 10-2. (Oh, yeah, how cool is it that they used my mints on the poster and card!!!)

Got Our PINK Going On, 6x6 Inch Oil painting by Kelley MacDonald

The upcoming Little Picture Show at the Providence Art Club will feature 2 of my Peppermint Paintings, and 4 donut paintings.  This is one of them, but if you NEED it, just email me at kcareymac@hotmail.com asap, and I will paint them another one!  What IS it about painting candies that I love?
Part of it .... yes, the cellophane.  Then the is the endless compositions.  And the white with highlights.  And... candies are fun.  My Dad always had a couple of these in every pocket.  I've copied that from him.  So if we are ever together and you get a tickle in your throat, be glad we're together!

Full Nest, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

SOLD

Sometimes in our lives things are very full... like with little ones, and business and dreams and hopes.  That's what a full nest feels like.  Everything changes, so we learn to hold on to this sweetness and the moments as they come.

Today in class we did the 'counted strokes'  lesson.  We painted our image, counting each stroke - no limit.  My first one was 230 strokes.  The next one we did we cut that number in half - I only could cut it, this time, to 120 strokes.  The third is the most difficult - cut the number in half again.  Doing this makes you think VERY carefully about the stroke you're putting down.  It makes you deliberate.  Keeps you from 'house painting' where you 'pet' the canvas or board, almost mindlessly, until you think of what color comes next.  Here, we are practicing 'thoughtful' strokes.

At the end we paint the image again, with no counting, just the lesson of thoughtful paint application in mind.  This, above, was my last effort.  Here is the set of 4 below, from my demo (the painting above is on a regular square of gessobord, and I just taped it to my big canvas in space #4.
The colors were a little yellow in this photo...
And the little dabs were my way of counting each stroke - no, they do not match up - the first one took more room for the dots than I needed, so I continued down on #4's space (which I didn't need because we didn't count on that one!).

Chocolate Chocolate Cream ... Plus... oil by Kelley MacDonald

Getting ready for the Hingham Arts Walk THIS weekend.... come SEE the 'wall of donuts' - 35 North Street in Hingham.  Most of these have not been seen by the world yet!  I discovered a true gem of a donut shop in Fall River, this donut is slightly crunchy on the outside, and tender and moist on the inside, PLUS filled with cream AND frosted with chocolate... WOWZA.  Do stop by Page Railsback's studio on Sunday!

Also.... I am endlessly fascinated by other artists' process.  So when I see some (and you should check these guys out) like Karen Appleton and Amy Hillenbrand, I just am mesmerized.  They paint in one location and move on to another... This speaks largely to the whole "my school of painting is the only correct one..." crowd.  You see, in the world of art, there IS no 'correct' method of painting.  Some people start by blocking out masses of shapes, some draw with  pencil first and then work they way methodically across the canvas/board, some draw with paint and lay down the darks firs.....  it's ALL good.  And what happens when you tend to judge is that you miss out on being OPEN and learning new things.  I'm re-inspired.  May just try this type of method soon.  I'll show you.  Although, to be honest, when you try something new, it takes about 6 tries to get it right...

Sweet Spot, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDoanld

Oh.  The sweetness.  This painting, too, is scheduled to go to the Hingham Arts Walk on Sunday.  HOWEVER, if you really have to have it, just email me at kcareymac@hotmail.com.  I completely understand, and, like Jimmy Durante... "I've got a million of them...(in me)". It would be $100 & $10 S&H.

Bismarks are a pretty great specialty here in this area.  Tender donut with whipped cream and a nice dollop of jelly... Only one Dunkin's in the area carries these, and they sell out quickly.
*for all of you who are interested, my cholesterol numbers were good as of yesterday, per my doctor! :D

You Are The Only One, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

This painting, "You Are The Only One" will be at Page Railsback's studio for the Hingham Arts Walk from noon to 4. This one, to me, is like a jewel.  The green of the bottle was endlessly fascinating to paint.  I can't take my eyes off it when I see the painting!
I'll have a number of my very best paintings there, and some new donut paintings as well.  The South Shore of Boston is my old stomping ground, and I hope to see many of my old friends, fellow artists and collectors at 35 North Street in Hingham.  A few of the Girls Just Wanna Paint buddies will be showing, and I'll be happy to direct you to them!

Sunday!

I'll be at Page Railsback's Studio - 35 North Street - with some NEW DONUT PAINTINGS~

Jelly War, 12x12 inch Framed Acrylic jPainting by Kelley MacDonald

I had so much fun with this painting!  Very contemporary, and framed in a black floater frame (which I am including free - and can be purchased without the frame as well), it was fun from start to finish.  After I painted it a friend said it looked like the jelly donuts had been fighting, and one, well, did better than the other - yes, the Mike Tyson of Jelly Donuts on the lower right ;).

People ask me "Do you prefer Oil or Acrylic paint?"  And my answer, unqualified, is "YES".  When I'm using my oils I sink into their juicy glow.  When I'm going to town with my acrylics I glory in their ability to stay with my plan, even when I change it - they're fun, they're unapologetic, they take to chunky strokes, and can disguise themselves as oil paint.

This gang got a lot of attention at my Open Studio, and I have to say I just love the assortment.  BTW I 'discovered' a new donut shop in Fall River this week.  Look for new, crazy donuts coming up soon.

Jelly Bomb, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

SOLD

Oh MAN, this was the perfect Jelly Donut!  Out of the lineup of plump sweet filled jellies, this one was the star.  And usually I have to do quite a bit of coaxing to get that perfect 'drip', but this one just erupted with that ruby goo!

So, was it coincidence that this painting just 'slid off the brush'?  I think not.  I especially was challenged, but LOVED painting the doughy spot to the left of the jelly - apparently this donut was joined to another and this was the 'tear-spot'.  I thought, at first - "I can't do that!"  I thought about ignoring it... surely I've painted enough of these to know what a non-torn piece looks like!  But then.... ah... I have a little motto... "Do one thing each day that terrifies you..."... so I went for it.  And am happy with the result!

Are you enjoying October?  I HOPE so - it's my favorite month!

Pepper-minty!, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Oh, you know how I love to paint candies!  I have a lot of ideas which I'll be playing with in the 6x6 format, with color, design and brushwork.  This one - I have to say the background color in real life is a consistent light blue - seems the photo has a bit of a shadow at the top.
My favorite part - believe it or not, is the cellophane!  Nuts, huh?  I also like the hot pink (it's called Carmine Red) peeking out from the bottom layer.

And you know who loves these mints?  Paco.  Yes, I found him digging them out of the bottom of a paint bin, where apparently the bag of candies had spilled.  I saw him trying to suck on one through the wrapper!  Then I found A FEW in the cushion of chair - and in pile of fresh laundry, that he had jumped up on (and tried to 'bury' the candy in).

So... sweets for the sweet.  Hey, that could be the name of the next one! :)

Selfie, 6x8 Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Here we are at the 1st of the month again!  WHERE did September go?  This month the Girls Just Wanna Paint Group chose "Expression" for our topic- I could have painted the whole MONTH on just that topic!  But I chose to take a selfie of me making a face.  Started out great, but I overworked it.  Anyway, there are some truly amazing paintings posted this month and you can see them HERE!.

Close Up, 5x7 Oil painting by Kelley MacDonald

I love the deep soulful gaze of a pug!

I'm having a yard / y'art sale this Saturday - come on by for some extra specially priced older paintings both large and small, or for wood frames, gold, dark brown, black... etc.  I have downsized my studio and simply cannot keep everything.  I also have assorted occasional furniture items, kitchen stuff - hey, while I'm at it why not de-clutter a LITTLE! :)
Good time of year to start thinking of the Holidays, too.

In the studio I'm working away to clear up my commissions, because I want to be ready for the October influx for the Holidays.  I'm also playing a bit with abstraction.  Trust me, a good abstract is HARDER to paint than a good realist painting!

Stand At Pardon Gray, oil painting by Kelley MacDonald

This 8x8 in painting will be hanging at the North River Arts Society's Members Show opening this Friday night.  I won't be able to attend the Opening Festivities, unfortunately.  I have posted this painting before, as it was the Girls Just Wanna Paint submission for August.
If you DO go - how's about taking a photo of it - and you - and sending it to me? kcareymac@hotmail.com.  Muchas gracias.  Enjoy - this opening is FREE to the public!

I'm a bit off my game today - my husband was invited to attend an event Tuesday night in NYC, and he didn't want to stay over, and asked me to take the drive with him, and keep him company (have I EVER turned down an opportunity to go to The City? No.).  Should have been 3 1/2 hours or so each way.  Try FIVE and a half, each way.  We made a speedy trip to Manhattan, then as soon as we got off the highway (brilliantly coordinated with the UN letting out of their Climate Change event) the many blocks surrounding the UN were all blocked off - and you KNOW that's where we needed to go.

Coming home, every city in CT closed down most of 95N, resulting in a lovely slowdown - especially in New Haven at midnight, sitting stock still for 1/2 hour.  I wanted to get out of the car and pave the road myself - I think I could have been quicker.  Anyway... just a little sleep deprived (in at 3 a.m.) and cranky - off to bed now.... a deliriously happy day of painting tomorrow!

Toast... To You, 4x4 inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Sometimes you just don't need any reason to celebrate your friends.  You know... they are with you to share your happy times and there to hug you and support you through tough times.  I have to say I'm a pretty good Cosmo maker.  If you ever stop by ... ask for one.  I'm happy to share.
This little painting was doing while I was doing a 'Cosmo Commission' for 2 very good friends who have good stories to share.  Festive. Fun.  Like our very best friends.....

Weeeelcome Back!

A lovely little island just west of Martha's Vineyard, part of the Elizabeth Islands in Massachusetts... Cuttyhunk is the place to go if you want quiet.  Off the grid, mostly (you can stand on some crests of hills and catch a signal for your phone).  I left with my friend Susan Medyn out of New Bedford Harbor into the spray of the water taxi... into the blue blue water & sky and finally saw little Cuttyhunk.  An Artist's Retreat.  Heaven.  And I did a fun little workshop on Plein Air for my group and the Islanders (it was open to all EIGHTEEN full time islanders).

We were pampered with gentle, nourishing yoga on the front porch overlooking the ocean.  During the days we foraged for inspiration and the muse.... at night, under the gloaming sky, we toasted each day's fruit of our labor with wine & bites, then were presented with fabulous meals in the shingle style Inn, called the Avalon.

This afternoon, I braved the whirling wind, and explored the Fisherman's Club, settling near the bluff that overlooked the old Coast Guard Station (red roof), and the spit of beach that pointed towards Nashawena (now... I may have spelled that wrong, but it's the next island).  I started out 'normally'... (you know, blue sky, greeny water), but then it was as if I heard my dearly departed teacher, Ros Farbush in my ear.  "ANYONE could paint that!  Put some color into it!"  So I let my brush dip into the purples and aqua... and ... here it is.  I do hate to part with it.  I'll share more paintings soon.

Where we had yoga every soft morning.

Ripple Effect, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

It's that time again, Girls Just Wanna Paint Challenge!   This month our topic was rather loose, "Water", very open for interpretation.  Thoughts I had included a glass of water at a place setting on a table, a very realistic painting of a glass of ice water, a painting of someone watering their flowers or garden, a pot of water ready for pasta on the stove, a kitchen sink, aside from all the usual beach/boat/swim paintings I could do.

I settled on this one, because it's from a photo session I did in Maine in June, early morning in the cove we stay at.  I have always been intrigued by the broken mirror image of the trees, the boat, the buoy, the sky in the water.  I thought to myself "I'll never get this, it's too complicated."  But I started early and s-l-o-w-l-y did one refection at a time.  It looks even better in person, and I'm quite happy with it. I can hear the lapping of the water at the dock I stood on to shoot the image.  Happy Labor Day weekend, and, unbelievably, it's SEPTEMBER!

Peaceful Day, 4x6 Inch Acrylic Painting by Kelley MacDonald

4x6" Acrylic Painting

Today.... was blissful.  Perfect temperature, low wind, gorgeous sky with an army of cream puff clouds gliding along.  I HAD to have the 'studio' outside today!

But I didn't feel like painting alone... so I called my friend Susan Medyn, a brave and sassy watercolorist, (see her work here), and took my Studio Assistant (Paco) outside.

Inspiration floated back and forth between Susan and I, and we egged each other on to step outside of our comfort zones, while noshing on pb&j's (I'm a real hostess, I tell you).  We slapped that paint around, talked about our upcoming trip to the Cuttyhunk Island Artist's Retreat, shared career tips and  brainstormed.  I have been in a really fertile mode about my work, it's direction, ways to market it while maintaining the focus on development of my skill.  The stars must be aligning for me in this area!  I'm enjoying good connections to collectors, who give me valuable feedback, and enrich MY life with their friendships.

Tonight.... a trip to Marshfield to North River Art Society's Outside The Box - a really fun event, where we paint and our pieces go on the wall unsigned for a silent auction.  Tonight the paintings went to their new homes.  I think the quality of the art this year was superior to every other year.  Actually, the actor Steve Carrell painted a piece titled "Buy This Painting For $50,000".  Pretty much he just painted that on a square.  I fear the bid went for slightly less than that... :)  still fun.

Intensity, 5x7 Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

5x7" Oil Painting "Intensity"
SOLD

Did you know that Tuesday was National Dog Day?  Yeah, well, .... we celebrated it in our house!  No, not Harry, the orange cat or Isabelle the torti cat, but Paco and I... and my husband (who did not know exactly that he was celebrating).  I love this painting.  It was part of my 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge with Leslie Saeta.   I really like that you have to delve... dig and be creative - because trust me, no matter how much you love your subject, at about day 10 you are smacking yourself in the forehead asking everyone you know why they let you commit to this!  And you get to know a subject INSIDER OUT! :D

So.  Here I am, considering it again for September.  I have a really, really, really busy month.  I'm doing a workshop on Cuttyhunk Island as part of the Cuttyhunk Island Artist Retreat.  I'm teaching at the Providence Art Club.  And I'm teaching 3 Fridays at the Portsmouth Arts Guild on Aquidneck Island. (Please ignore the typo's, I just copied and pasted from their website):
Honestly, I'm just glad there are 2 e's in my first name and an 'a' in my last name.  I don't ask for much! But there are still a few spots left if you're interested!

One more, kind of personal, thing.  I actually consider all you guys my friends.  You are, actually, more real than my Facebook friends, since you've shared my journey for many years, so... OK.  I haven't posted since Open Studios, which was fine, fun and fabulous.  Because as I was catching my breath over that, we learned that my godchild is very sick.  With God's grace she will not only survive but thrive, but it's been a rocky week, and honestly, I couldn't paint.  I couldn't even string a thought together.  All the crazy stuff going on in the world, and then to find out someone who is wonderful in a 'lit from within' way is literally holding on by a thread.  So.... if you can spare a prayer, we'll take it.  Thank you.  And now.... I promise surprises and fun scenes from Open Studios tomorrow.  Goodnight and thank you.

What'cha Doin' This Weekend?

8x8 inch Acrylic - "Triple Threat"

This is a new one for my Open Studio this weekend.  8x8.  Aye-yi-yi!  I have it framed.  It walkways surprises me just how far people will drive for one of these paintings - so I made sure I have plenty available this year!  I opened the box of donuts tonight and there was only ONE there.  I have no idea what happened to them..... Paco?  Well, tomorrow I am giving away a donut painting :D  AND I will have tiny little jelly donuts available to nosh!  Don't come to me last - I can't run out and get more when they're gone!!!

Good weather tomorrow - perfect.  Sprinkles on Sunday - also perfect.

To be eligible to win this 6x6 inch original painting, just print and cut out the invitation below, put your name and email address (clearly) on the back, and drop it in to my fishbowl at the studio!
Good luck!

Donuts Here, Donuts There.....

"And In This Corner...." 12x12 Inch Acrylic painting

Getting ready for Open Studio here... so I know what you're thinking - "She's cleaning, polishing, putting up new curtains, painting the porch, etc. etc. "  Well, not exactly.  Not anything like that, actually.  I am painting bigger donut paintings!  These 4 donuts were painted right in the DD's box, which I held in my left hand while painting with my right... all the while listening to Colin Page's interview on Artists Helping Artists!

Who eats the donuts, you ask?  Good question.  Depends on the day.  Today Paco barked like a crazy dog at the BOX till I put it out of sight.  I may re-arrange and paint them again tomorrow, but, in this ONE thing I'm a perfectionist, and if the frosting has lost it's sheen or the jelly has become transLUCENT instead of trasPARENT.... out they go.

So, yes, I'm giving away "Luscious Lips", below:

To be eligible, just print out the invitation, below.  Put your name and email address (clearly, please!) on the back, and when you visit my Open Studio this weekend, drop it into the fish bowl (which is really a vase).  I'll pick the winner on Sunday at 5!

I'm giving away this little painting - for followers of my blog exclusively (yes, people can sign up for the blog there at my studio).

Simply print out the little ad below, and put your contact info on the back and drop it into my fish bowl when you visit!  (Name, email, physical address, and phone - if you are comfortable with that - I'll only use it to notify you!).
The walls are packed.  :)  I'd love to see you!

Ooey Gooey Chocolate Frosted, 6x6 inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

SOLD
Oh, the chocolate does me in!  I will admit!  And SOMETIMES, like this time, I ask them to re-dip the donut in the chocolate.  Evil, I know, but they do it for me!

I promised I'd post the painting I'm giving away this weekend at my Open Studio, so here it is, below:

All you have to do is print and clip the invitation BELOW.  Write your contact information on it and when you stop by my Studio, on the South Coast Open Studio Tour, drop it in the fishbowl.  At the end of the day on Sunday, my assistant will reach in and choose an entry.  I will ship it for free.  Good luck!

Extra Chocolate Frosting, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

LOTS of stuff going on.  Really.  Yesterday's painting was selected as a Daily Paintworks Pick of the Day!  This past weekend I had a couple of paintings in the Pembroke Arts Festival, and I did a donut demo there on Saturday.  Got interviewed on a local cable show there too.  I painted 4 donuts, below:

Today's donut is part of the plethora (now, haven't you always wanted to USE that word?) of donuts I'm painting for this upcoming weekend's Open Studio at my home/studio.  Ah-cha-cha!  The craziness here!  I tell you it's astounding!

If you cut this invitation out and bring it to my Open Studio, write your contact information on the back, because I'm GIVING AWAY a painting if you come because of my blog or my Facebook invitation!  Tomorrow I'll publish the painting I'm giving away.  Gonna be FUN!
