Pepper-minty!, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Oh, you know how I love to paint candies!  I have a lot of ideas which I'll be playing with in the 6x6 format, with color, design and brushwork.  This one - I have to say the background color in real life is a consistent light blue - seems the photo has a bit of a shadow at the top.
My favorite part - believe it or not, is the cellophane!  Nuts, huh?  I also like the hot pink (it's called Carmine Red) peeking out from the bottom layer.

And you know who loves these mints?  Paco.  Yes, I found him digging them out of the bottom of a paint bin, where apparently the bag of candies had spilled.  I saw him trying to suck on one through the wrapper!  Then I found A FEW in the cushion of chair - and in pile of fresh laundry, that he had jumped up on (and tried to 'bury' the candy in).

So... sweets for the sweet.  Hey, that could be the name of the next one! :)

Mints On Pink, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

SOLD

I had the most fun in the studio today.  For some reason there was NOTHING else (well, housework, yeah, but that'll be there beyond death, you know?) to do today, so Paco and I slipped off to the studio. I worked on EIGHT paintings.  Paco chased a patch of sunlight, and could not understand why it kept moving, and he'd have to go find it again to take another nap (this is so very unlike him - so DOG-like, to sleep on the floor... I think it's his first nap on the floor EVER).

And then I am still determined to work on figures, and I am my own free model...
And I definitely see improvement - although isn't it funny how cross you look when you paint yourself!?!

Sweet Trio, 6x6 Inch Candy Painting by Kelley MacDonald

MMMmmmMMm! Still doing the 30 Paintings in 30 Days, but on the weekend I have other things besides pugs to paint!  This is a little painting that will be in the James' Library in Norwell MA for their Valentine show.

I have, all Winter, little hard candies in my pocket.  It seems that the dry air from the heat being on sometimes gives me a little cough.  I like this variety.  Cinnamon, peppermint or butterscotch..  pretty much covers my moods!  I adore the challenge of painting cellophane!.  It's never easy and it's never the same - the light, the background all influence how it looks.

Happy Saturday, all!

I Couldn't Resist Carmel! 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

$100 & $10 S&H

Those little Goetze's carmels - for me, they should be banned.  My middle son and I could make short work of a bag of them.  Something about the creamy center and the chewy carmel - *sigh*!

I said I have a donut painting for you and I do - three of them actually!  But I forgot my camera at home and when I left the studio due to an 'art injury' (too much painting - aching shoulder!) I completely forgot the donut painting!  Good news, if you live in the Boston area - I'll be at Framing Concepts (105 South Street) in Hingham on Sunday for the Hingham Arts Walk - from 12-4 and I'll have them with me - so you can see them all together.  Also - my new cocktail series!  There are so many fun artists going to be there, it's a 'should-go' event!  I hope to see you there - stop in and say hello!
