This morning my class will work on making a painting with a photograph as their reference. I don't want them to copy exactly, rather to make a good painting out of what they see in a photograph. As a girl I wished I had a bed tucked under an eave. When I saw a photograph of this setting in a magazine I knew I had to paint it. The colors remind me of the artist Carl Larsson. Wouldn't you like to take the book from the nightstand and curl up against those pillows?
Kelley. Love the interesting architecture and millwork of Cape homes. Dormers with beds tucked into those cosy spaces. Nowadays will people curl up with a book on their Kindle or IPad?..how times have changed. Charming use of colors.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun...I always loved window seats as a kid. Have a good class.
ReplyDeleteBTW great article in SSL.
Yep! I would : ) Love the colours and that stripey carpet. Puts me in the mind of one of my favourite van Goghs!
ReplyDeleteA Van Gogh flavor..like this

ReplyDeleteKelley,
ReplyDeleteThis one is fabulous! Yes, very Van Gogh- love the colors:) I just wonder why there isn't a Paco that comes with this charming room? That rug is begging for a cute pug on it!
Well done!
Love this! It reminds me of my childhood bedroom with the sloping eaves, the tiny window and the yellow walls.
ReplyDeleteI love this too! Wonderful colors . . . you've really captured the feel of coziness. It makes me want to curl up with a book for sure!
ReplyDeleteI love it. Very Van Gogh.
ReplyDeleteI have to like them both because they're equally as good. Just different in that nice way that you want the second painting to be.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Carl Larsson link.
I want a covered bed in the middle of the room ;)
