It Was Either This Or A Snow Painting...

Oh, the joys of a snow day!  I visited chickens a couple of times last summer and was going through my photos and thought I needed to bring them into a painting!  Once again,, this acrylic pen is so much fun to use!  Not my usual style, but every once in a while you have to break free.

What better time than during a historic snowstorm?  Thanks Juno!

Cluck, 8x8 Inch painting of a chicken by Kelley MacDonald

SOLD

No need to 'adjust your set'.... The photo was one of 3 I took - all a little blurry.  I think the camera didn't know what to focus on with all that pattern!  I will try again with a different camera on Saturday, when I am in the studio again!

I love chickens - I guess you can tell.  I think they're pretty smart - though some people can't see it.  It's like people who don't 'get' cats, or dogs - you can't expect them to act in a 'people-ish' way - you have to take them on their terms.... and then I believe you will mostly find it very rewarding!  The feathers on this chicken are crazy!  Very flamboyant.  And we all know I like fun, so....

Oh, on Saturday night, Kathrine Lovell, a heavenly artist, (and I mean her work is divine, not religious) is having an Opening in her Studio at Tiverton 4 Corners.  I have double booked, and will miss the Opening (but my homemade hummus will make an appearance), but I will not miss this show.

Cocktails For Two!, 8x10 inch oil painting by Kelley MacDonald

8x10 inches
$200 & $10 S&H

In my painting classes last week we had a 'cocktail party', and I was totally inspired by the colors and set ups that my students selected.  So I thought - I MUST have something to celebrate, and it will come to me as I paint.  So... *tick*tick*tick* (time going by)... I found out my painting Maine Chicks won an Honorable Mention at the upcoming North River Arts Festival.  I'm honored just to get IN that show!  So... Cheers! (And yes, I ate 2 cherries just setting this up...)
(and even though I always HATE to put a $200 price on a Daily Painting, this is 8x10, and that is a fraction of what it will go for at the gallery - if it doesn't sell this week, it goes on the Art Stable Gallery walls!)

Here's the little Maine Chicks...

ZOOM A Little Jelly!, 6x6 Inch Original Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

$100 & $10 S&H
This is one of the jellies that will be making it's debut at the Hingham Arts Walk
with me.  I will be at Framing Concepts, 105 South Street from 12-4.  Be sure to stop by!  This jelly will be joined by a couple of other new jellies as well as new cocktail paintings!  Hingham is my old stomping grounds, and I am really looking forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces.

Tonight I was honored to attend the Opening of the South County Art Association in Kingston, RI and receive 1st Prize for my painting "Shall We Cross The Road?"  It was a great show and the people I met were wonderful!  The show runs through November 10.

Chicky Chick, 6x6 Inches, Oil

SOLD
Oh, I had such fun with this little Rhode Island Red Chick!  His/her baby feathers were so soft and richly colored. Yes, even a little fuzzy!

This was one of those paintings, regardless of the subject, that reminds me why I just love to paint.  The creamy strokes and paint that just glided onto the surface of the panel as smooth as you could want.  *Joy*

Them Chickens' 'Jackin' My Style, 6x6 Acrylic

SOLD
Credit for the title goes to the Black Eyed Peas... it's a song that gets stuck in your head, called "Boom Boom Pow" (or Boom Boom Boom.. ).  Anyway these little guys are very curious about each other, aren't they?  They are, of course, Rhode Island Red chicks.  It was great fun painting their fuzzy feathers and their soft little bodies...
