It's About Time, Oil, 6x8

This is a clock I love, and I was looking for a nice reflective surface to paint, so why not shiny silver and glass? Once again, I thought I'd never actually do this, then agonized when I realized I'd set myself up to paint Roman Numerals... but in the end, it all worked out. The trick is to not see the glass, the metal, but just paint the shapes and the light. The Roman Numerals were not nearly as hard as I anticipated, either.

  3. A real gem! Great choice of color for the background!

That trick of getting your mind off the actual subject and just painting the shapes and colors really works -- I used it to get over my fear of trying to paint animals. (Well, I don't actually paint the animals - I just paint pictures of them. :)

I love the subject placement in all your paintings - I'm a big fan of creative cropping. Great job!
