Bully Lobster, 6x6 Inches, Oil
We had lobster Sunday to celebrate my daughter's boyfriend's birthday. It was a really nice day, and, chicken-heart that I am, I left the actual COOKING of the beasts to my husband. I ventured into the kitchen right after they went 'in', and heard a bit of knocking on the pan - I ran out of the kitchen faster than I thought I was capable! They cooked one for me to paint, as I don't eat them, and then he became part of a pasta dish. I had a lot of fun with the drawing of the lobster, and then I just had a blast putting brushloads of green paint on, in slightly different shades, for the background. I love my life!

He's wonderful Kelley, I love your brushwork. To me he seems to be saying "really?".

ReplyDeleteGreat brushwork love the colors.
GREAT brushwork! Love all of those oranges and the way you scratched in the "feelers". Love that square textured green too...the perfect color with that vivid orange!
ReplyDeletethis critter is fairly jumping off the canvas!!! beautifully done, so much said in a small format! i run screaming from the kitchen while the deed is being done as well. but i foolishly spend a few minutes before hand speaking to it and telling it how sorry i am for it's coming demise. however, i am ashamed to say, i have no trouble eating them. excellent painting!
ReplyDeleteNot that I have many opportunities to eat lobster, but after reading your post I may never eat one again! lol You are too funny. I cried one time when I caught a little tiny fish and couldnt' get the hook out of his mouth! Great painting!!!
