First Cosmos, 6x6 acrylic

This is our first, but not last, Cosmos.  I love the dark pink color, and look forward to it's cheering me throughout the heat of the summer.  I wanted the challenge of looking down on the little flower and little vase, measure, measure, measure.  We got these big sqare stones in a light sand color that act like stepping stones, providing a nice, warm neutral backdrop.
Happy Fathers' Day to all the Dads out there....

  1. I love the freshness of this, esp. the stick-y airiness of the stem & leaves!

  2. Hi Kelly, This painting has wonderful design...the shadow breaking the left edge, the petals the top and right edge..love it! The petal on the right that comes close to the edge creates some tension/movement, too. Nice!

  3. I love the composition of this painting. Cosmos are also one of my favorite flowers! This painting is great in that one gets a sense of how cosmos do loom and tower over their surroundings.
