Party Girl!, 6x6 Inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

Finished this late in the day, and could not get a good light to photograph it.  So this image will be updated by noon on *Valentine's Day* :)
Freshly back from a WONDERFUL time at the Westminster Dog Show, I'm beyond high on dogs.  But having posted a couple of dog paintings, I wanted to start up with something different.

I had asked for photos of some of your amazing pets.. and THANK you!  I have a wonderful assortment to choose from, and am always looking for more.  Please just email them to me at kcareymac@hotmail.com!

This girl is a Princess.  I can just tell.  I felt like her coat was very festive!  A glorious, luxurious Calico… she has, as well, an all - knowing look.  She's got your number!

When my oldest son was very young (a week after turning 2) our cat had kittens, 2 orange and 1 calico.  We told him he could keep his favorite.  He chose the calico.  For some reason he decided to call my Mom 'Calico' at this time (no, she had highlighted hair, but it was not tricolor).  All I can say is the name stuck, and for the rest of her life all the family kids called her Calico.  It's even on her headstone.  Truth is stranger than fiction, I think.

Black Magic, 6x6 inch Oil Painting by Kelley MacDonald

$100 & $10 S&H

This is my submission for the Girls Just Wanna Paint Challenge this month, which is "MAGIC".  You can see the other artist's pieces HERE.

I"m not much for actual magic.  The magic of love?  Yes.  The magic of a miracle?  Absolutely!  But regular magic is so fakey-fakey, you know?  And a lot of people associate black cats with magic (witches, etc.).  Well, I had the most wonderful cat in the world about 20 years ago - well, he was my daughter's but he was mine in my heart.  His name was Max.  (He looked like this but this is not him)  He was huge - not fat at all, just a big boy - 18 pounds.  And you did NOT mess with him.  He refused to go into the house through the door, once he figured out that the bulkhead led right up to a kitchen window.  Yes, everyone in our house knew that he would meet you at the window if he wanted 'in'.  He was very affectionate to me, and had rules.  One rule was - beds made first thing in the a.m.  No dilly dallying.  He would block the doorway to my bedroom, staring at the bed, at me …. then at the bed… just blinking.  And I knew.  So as soon as the bed was made he'd hop up and curl up in the middle, against the pillows.  I'd give anything, ANYTHING at all, to have him boss me around just one more time.

First Kenny, 6x8 Inches, Oil

SOLD
My friend Page Railsback has a beautiful, charming cat named Kenny.  He made such an impression on our Girls Just Wanna Paint Challenge Group last week we decided to make 'Kenny' our topic for the upcoming month.  I've decided to paint him in various poses, and maybe in different styles... and see what one 'makes' the cut.

I also want to thank Pam Copeman for featuring me on her blog - she's fabulous!

In our area, it's been so darn hot and humid.  But this week our Painting Safari will be in Jamestown, RI.  If you can make it and want to know where we're meeting (at 9 a.m.) just call me at 339-222-1998 and I'll tell you where we're going to be.  Most of us are meeting to carpool at the Prudence Island Ferry in Bristol at 8:15.  We'd love you to join us!

Oh, and here's the pics and info for that wonderful viewfinder with grid lines:

Painting of Harry, 11x14 acrylic

$125 & S&H via Paypal
Not a 'Daily' painting here, but I've had it in my mind for a while to do this.. I just need to work on the fur a bit more, but this is SUCH a classic look from my lovable (to me) kitty, Harry.  His attitude is "We'll do things MY way..." and I love him so much I go for it every time!  He likes to lay on my FACE while I read at night.  (So, yes, here's a little struggle we have - I just need my EYES clear, you know?)  You may not understand our 'relationship', and think it's one-sided, but this kitty does not EAT if I'm away.  Not a bite.  For however long I'm gone.  (Which makes it really hard for me to leave, right?)  Anyway, I have no illusions that this will be in any of the upcoming shows, but it was in me, and I needed to do it!
